In a major step for global AI, G42, a leading technology group from Abu Dhabi, and Mistral AI, a top AI company based in Paris, have announced a strategic partnership to co-develop advanced AI platforms and infrastructure. Revealed during Choose France, this collaboration builds on AI cooperation agreements supported by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and French President Emmanuel Macron in February 2025. It highlights the growing partnership between the UAE and France, rooted in nearly 50 years of economic and cultural ties, and marks a new era of cross-regional AI collaboration.
The partnership combines G42’s operational strength, through its companies like Core42 for AI infrastructure and Inception for AI platforms and solutions, with Mistral AI’s expertise in open-weight large language models. “This partnership is about more than just technology,” said Peng Xiao, Group CEO of G42. “We’re creating a future where digital systems work together, built on trust and transparency.”
The collaboration covers the full AI spectrum, from training models and building infrastructure to creating industry-specific applications for regions like Europe, the Middle East, and the Global South. By blending Mistral AI’s platform with G42’s AI stack, the partnership ensures technical independence and strong intellectual property governance, protecting innovation while enabling scalable deployment. The two companies will also explore ways to promote each other’s offerings in both existing and new global markets.
Arthur Mensch, Co-founder and CEO of Mistral AI, said, “G42 shares our goal of making powerful, open AI accessible to everyone. This partnership not only speeds up our progress but also brings AI’s benefits to regions beyond traditional tech centers.”
The agreement also includes collaboration with the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), the world’s first AI-focused university, located in Abu Dhabi. MBZUAI will work with G42 and Mistral AI on cutting-edge research in foundational AI models, talent development, and turning research into real-world solutions. “Our shared focus on innovation, collaboration, accessibility, and inclusion makes us perfect partners to advance AI for everyone’s benefit,” said Eric Xing, President of MBZUAI.
This partnership reflects a broader commitment to drive AI innovation, openness, economic opportunity, and inclusive growth, especially in regions with limited technology infrastructure. By uniting G42’s infrastructure expertise with Mistral AI’s research leadership, this alliance sets a new standard for open, accessible, and responsible AI development, serving as a model for global cooperation and digital progress.
