Peter Ndengwa, Chief Executive Officer of Safaricom, has announced the appointment of Fawzia Ali as Chief Consumer Business Officer effective 15th March 2023. Fawzia Ali had been serving in an acting capacity since July 2022 and has been commended for her exemplary leadership and inspiration to the team during that period. In her new role, Fawzia will be responsible for leading the Consumer Business’ Mission and strategic objectives and growing the market share and consumer solutions through product development, digital CVM, terminals strategy, and customer insights.
Fawzia Ali has over 20 years of experience in finance, sales, and commercial and is well-versed in the market, consumer trends, and economic landscape. She joined Safaricom in 2007 as a Senior Manager and has since held various leadership roles, including Head of Consumer Planning and Pricing, Head of Regional Sales & Operations – Coast, Head of Consumer Segments, and Head of Digital Products and Services.
Fawzia Ali has been a champion of Agile leadership and was appointed the Mobile Data Tribe Lead in October 2021, achieving double-digit growth during the last financial year. She is committed to transforming lives through Safaricom’s consumer products and services and has served as a Safaricom Foundation Trustee from 2015 to 2022, as well as mentoring female colleagues as part of the Women in the Leadership program. Fawzia holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science and Technology, a Master’s in Business Administration, and is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya.
