Review: TECNO Camon 16S Comes With Five Cameras

Written by

TECNO Camon 16S might just be the last budget phone for 2020 from the company. It joins Camon 16 Premier and Camon 16 Pro in the Camon 16 series. It was launched in Kenya officially in November and comes in three colors Ice Jadeite, Misty Grey, and Blue Hawaii. I am quite sure a typical Kenyan buyer would like to know the camera features of any phone before buying. So let’s review it starting with that.

Camon 16s comes with a 48-megapixel quad-camera setup, an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with an adjustable dual flash and a quad-camera formation at the back of a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, a 2-megapixel macro lens, and an AI lens, all designed to bring you an ultra-clear photography experience.

The Tecno Camon 16S cameras are powered by Tecno’s image processing and lab enhancement, TAIVOS (Tecno AI Vision Optimization Solution) system. Other features in the camera include a Penta-LED flash unit, 10x hybrid zoom, super night mode, 120ps slow-motion video shooting, video beauty, video bokeh, Animoji, portrait AI scene recognition that supports 5 customizable scenes (human, flower, food, pet, and street) and AI-powered beautification 3.0 which helps to offer best matching effects according to its precise analysis.

Talking about the design, Tecno Camon 16S is a polycarbonate-bodied phone measuring 164.7 × 76.3 x 8.95 mm with stunning colors and exquisite textural lines. It features a massive dot-in 6.6-inch display screen with a punch-hole cut out for the selfie camera. It produces an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and a 20.5:9 aspect ratio. That will work best for those who love reading books and watching live videos. It also has a rear-positioned fingerprint sensor and headphone jack, microphone, speaker grille, and micro-USB charging port at the bottom.

When it comes to performance, the Camon 16S preinstalled with Android 10 OS is powered by a Mediatek Helio P35 processor with Power VR GE8320 and supports 4G VoLTE for all networks. The phone is a twin-sim and has 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB internal storage with a non-removable 18W fast charging Li-Po 5,000mAh battery ensuring you have enough time to use your phone before recharging it.

TECNO Camon 16S sells from Ksh 17,699 and is available countrywide in TECNO’s official retail stores and in leading online shops.
