We have already mentioned some key features of Tecno Spark 5 Pro in this article and this other one. If you read those, then you already know that the Tecno Spark 5 Pro device is not one of those devices you want to buy for task heavy functions; but rather, it is a phone you’d want to own if your primary concern is social media or the typical call/text we all need a phone for.

Unboxing The Tecno Spark Pro

Tecno Spark Pro comes in one of those typical low cost packages we are not accustomed to, nothing fancy really. Inside the box you’ll of course find the phone, an accompanying micro USB cable and charger, and a pair of earphones.

Provided alongside the phone is a translucent plastic back cover that should work pretty well for protecting the device. Given that the phone is basic mid range smartphone, there shouldn’t be any need to invest a lot of money in buying any additional protector – maybe what you can do is buy a glass protector for the screen. My experience however suggests that the screen protectors that come with these phones work just fine.

  1. Tools Shortcut

One thing you may not notice when you use Tecno Spark 5 Pro is a shortcut to some tools right at the home screen. This shortcut allows you to access some of the apps that you usually access from the apps menu.

Yes it is true that the most used apps ought to be place right at the home screen, but if you organise your home screen like myself, then you know that the number of apps you can place there can be limited from four to 9 or whatever number your phone allows. That’s why Tecno decided to provide you with a shortcut from where you can easily swipe left from the home screen (from the right side of the screen) to access other apps you may want to use every now and then but not as frequently as those that you placed on your home screen.

2. Camera

Camera is not such a big deal on Tecno Spark 5. This is because the main camera offers a paltry 16 MP on a quadruple of 16 MP, 2MP, 2 MP and VGA lenses/sensors of image details whereas the selfie does 8MP on a single lens/sensor setups.

Other than that, the phone is loaded with an F/1.8 big aperture 16-megapixel rear AI Quad camera, and an F/2.0, 8-megapixel front camera with an 8x digital zoom capability that enables highly clear and more natural photos during the daytime. Spark 5 Pro has ten different scene detections to fully cover both simple and mixed scenes at the same time. Its AI optimization lets you take more realistic and detailed.

For women who would like to showcase their body figures, the phone has an AI-based Body Shaping that helps you capture all those beautiful photos of your bodies. Oh, and you don’t need filter apps anymore, Spark 5 Pro has a Beauty Mode that gives you an ability to preset your images with different kinds of localized beauty effects. You can do skin polishing, intelligent brightening, big eyes, or make your face thin. For portraits, the accuracy of blurring has been significantly improved with its Portrait Bokeh Effect 2.0 allowing you to focus on the main portrait object while blurring the background naturally and smartly. Finally, to close on the camera ability, the phone is good for recording videos in full 1080p HD for both cameras.

Probably the best thing about Tecno Spark 5 Pro’s camera is that it has a dedicated slowmo button. With this button, you can take your slowmo videos on the go, and be ready to share them immediately after shoot – not need for using any editing software. Do not expect the slowmo videos to be very smooth (for those too keen to notice) because the phone shoots at 30 frames per second. Typically, slow motion works best at frame rates of 60fps and above.

3. Battery

The best part of Tecno Spark 5 Pro is that it comes with a 5000 mAh battery, one of the highest battery sizes in the market today. Such a battery capacity ought to allow you stay with charge for at least two days under normal usage conditions, but as I recently found, a phone that’s put on airplane mode every time that it is not in use can stay with power for more than a month.

Generally speaking therefore Tecno Spark 5 Pro is a phone that perfectly fits those who do not want to break an arm and a leg on smartphones but at the same time want to own a fairly decent decivice for their day to day phone services. Social media, phone calls, WhatsApp and text messaging are perfectly served by the phone.

5. Conclusion

Tecno Spark 5 is one of those phones you need to buy only if you are a sluggish smartphone user whose use cases range from social media and phone calls only. The other reason for buying the phone is its affordability, then lastly Tecno Spark 5 Pro is one of those devices that will come in handy when you want to buy someone a birthday present or any other type of gift.
