Tecno Camon 16 Premier, first impressions

Tecno Camon 16 Premier

Right now is that time everyone is talking about TECNO. That’s because about six days ago the affordable smartphone manufacturer unveiled their latest Camon model for 2020, the TECNO Camon 16 Premier, a device that takes over from the popular TECNO Camon 15 Premier. Camon 16 Premier come packaged in a box adorning TECNO’s sky blue colours. Inside the box you get the TECNO Camon 16 Premier neatly wrapped, a pair of earphones, the phone charger, USB cable, Silicone Case and Warranty card.

On the this sheet of wrapper Tecno has printed some important specs that includes the name of the phone, camera pixels i.e. the 64 MP rear shooter and the 48 MP selfie camera, super video mode, ultra night powered by TAIVOS, 6.9″ FHD Dual Dot-in Display and the 33W Flash Charge.

Unwrapping the TECNO Camon 16 Premier reveals a device that’s all round plastic except for its front glass protection that safeguards the 6.9 inches display.

The phone, although plastic cased, feels as premium as any other other post 2018 plastic cased smartphone. It feels light too but its 170.6 x 77.2 x 9.1 mm makes it a bit big and thick, but not anything you and me haven’t handled before. The large size however allows it to pack in 4500 mAh of battery that ought to take you through two to three days in single charge.

Once you get hold of the device the first thing we did was to check on the specs by going to Storage to find the total internal memory and RAM size. The internal memory is a gigantic 128GB, which is double the typical 64GB we have all become used to by now. The Tiktok, Instagram, Snapchat and Pinterest users will find the storage sufficient to store thousands upon thousands of photos and hundreds of videos before you find the need to delete the ones you consider useless.

Then we went to My Phone under setting and found out that Tecno Camon 16 Premier is a phone packed that runs on HIOS 6.0, has 1080 by 2460 for a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 374 ppi pixel density.

For Kshs. 28,500, we find Tecno Camon 16 Premier a phone worth buying for its larger battery, Full HD screen, pioneer cameras (both front and back), and a lot more features that we’ll tell you about in our next article.

If you own Tecno Camon 15 Premier the question you may have in mind is whether or not you should upgrade to this device, the answer to that will be in our next article where we take the two devices head to head.
