Safaricomâs Kocho Kocho campaign has been rewarding Kenyans for their loyalty to the telco across counties. The ten-week promotion now on its third week seeks to reward more than 5 million subscribers with more than Ksh 250 million in prizes.
The competition that also aims to represent diversity and inclusion randomly selects winners from very region in weekly draws with more than 500,000 customers expected to emerge millionaires in the remaining weeks.
Vincent Munga from Bungoma is among sixteen millionaires announced in the ongoing Kocho Kocho consumer campaign. Munga, a shopkeeper says he never thought he could win in the promotion and it came as a pleasant surprise. The orphan in a family of three â a brother and a sister, also the breadwinner says the money will go a long way in advancing his siblingsâ education.
âThe KES 1 Million will be of great help to me. I struggle so much to keep my siblings in school while depending on the income from my small shop. It is a great cushion. I thank Safaricom for celebrating me as a customer,â said Munga.
Participants in the campaign earn ten entries for every KES 20 top-up and one entry for every KES 20 transacted on M-PESA. Qualifying M-PESA transactions include sending money, receiving money from a business, transfers from a financial institution to M-PESA, and all Lipa Na M-PESA transactions.

According to Julius Kalume a week-two winner from the Coast, the money will change his family fortunes. I will put up an electronic shop in Mombasa town because that is what I am experienced in. I have been an employee in an electronic shop for over ten years and for once I will be my own boss. Additionally, more than 1.5M other customers from across the country have already been awarded weekly cash and daily airtime prizes worth over KES 78M.
