Safaricom To Provide Estates With Surveillance In New Partnership

Safaricom is seeking to utilize its Fibre to the Home and Cloud services to power home and estate surveillance. In line with this, the telecommunication company has partnered with the Kenya Alliance of Residents Association in a bid to increase security in member estates.

Through the partnership, Safaricom will sponsor a fibre connection and provide equipment that will be used to power surveillance of the estateā€™s two gates. The surveillance feed is accessible via an easy-to-use online portal that is powered by Safaricom Cloud services. The two parties have already launched a pilot surveillance project in Ngei Estate phase 2, Langā€™ata.

ā€œAs we roll out Fibre to the Home in different parts of the country, we are looking to diversify our product offering and give customers a wide array of services. We are cognizant of the increasing demand for security both in our homes and the environments we operate in, hence the reason we are happy to partner with KARA to transform the lives of residents of its member estates,ā€ said Steve Okeyo, Director, Regional Sales and Operations, Safaricom.

The newly launched project will fully be powered by solar energy as part of their prospects to venture in clean and affordable energy.

ā€œBeing champions of the Sustainable development goals, Safaricom is keen on clean and affordable energy and that is why this project will be fully powered by solar energy. We hope that through such initiatives, other estates will be encouraged to invest in Home Fibre,ā€ Said Okeyo.

As part of the initiative, Safaricom will also sponsor the training of a number of child caregivers in Ngei estate on First Aid and Safety within the home.

Safaricom Home Fibre is available in four categories of speeds which are Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum, with prices ranging from KES 2,500 to KES 9,999 per month. Customers using Fibre to the Home enjoy unlimited fast and reliable internet, free installation within 48 hours, a free router worth KES 10,000 and a dedicated customer care line (400).
