Artificial intelligence (AI) has often been put out as complex technology far from your daily life. Your smartphone, your car, your bank, and your house all use Artificial Intelligence, the exact reason why most device manufacturers today are striving to integrate AI into them.
“As we enter the age of intelligence, AI is no longer a virtual concept but something that intertwines with our daily life. AI can enhance the user experience, provide valuable services and improve product performance,” said Richard Yu, CEO, Huawei Consumer Business Group during the launch of the HUAWEI Mate 10 Series.
The newly launched series introduces the first mobile AI-specific Neural Network Processing Unit, launching a new era of intelligent smartphones.
Both the Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 pro are the first devices powered by the new Kirin 970 processor and deliver AI enhancements for a faster, more customized mobile experience. Kirin 970 processor is a new generation of a hyper-fast mobile chip with a key new feature: a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) which will enable cloud-based artificial intelligence (AI) and on-device AI to run alongside each other, faster.
According to Huawei, on device and cloud AI technologies will assist in Improving the experience for smartphone owners by providing more speed, more personalized data, and a better understanding of the world around it. The NPU will see traditionally cloud-based apps that use AI run in real time on the phone.
Also, a catch for consumers with the Kirin 970 is that it can process 2,000 images per minute, considerably more than other chips with similar capabilities, and it’s all thanks to the NPU
The mate 10 series has been prided for;
- Kirin 970, AI processor for smartphones with a dedicated Neural Network Processing Unit (NPU);
- A 3D Glass Body featuring a barely-there-bezel, HUAWEI FullView Display, and HDR10 supported technology for intensely vivid and brighter colors;
- Fast-Charge Safety and 4000 mAh battery with AI-powered Battery Management
- New Leica Dual Camera lenses with both featuring an aperture of f/1.6, and intelligent photography including AI-powered Real-Time Scene and Object Recognition
- simplified EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0.
With an all-new HUAWEI FullView Display, the HUAWEI Mate 10 features a 5.9-inch screen with a 16:9 display. The 6-inch HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro features an 18:9 OLED display, a high screen-to-body ratio for dynamic video viewing.
The devices feature a 3D Glass Body, beautifully and symmetrically curved on all four sides for an ergonomic hold. The back of the devices features a reflective band design to highlight the New Leica Dual Camera. The HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro is also IP67 Water and Dust Resistant.
The Huawei Mate 10 with a memory of 64GB will go for about Ksh80,000 and the Huawei Mate 10 pro with a memory of 128GB will be available for bout Ksh90,000.
