A phone that goes for Kshs 25K sounds expensive, especially when you think it is one of those Infinix or other Chinese brand smartphones. But when that phone has the beloved Nokia brand, then you know the quality that has gone into that handset must be amazing, trustworthy. And true to the brand name, Nokia 6 is not just a normal smartphone, but a phone that is bodied in a lovely machined metal design.
But don’t get me wrong, Nokia 6 is not a high end premium device, even though it comes embodied with a 1080p (1920 by 1080 resolution) screen. The drawback is that the CPU and the GPU that lights up that HD screen is the one typical of smaller devices that works best for 720p or lower screens, as the graphics required to keep the images on screen are quite intensive. HMD instead used the lower QualcommĀ Snapdragon 430 andĀ Adreno 505 which have since been upgraded to Snapdragon 435. Snapdragon 435 can easily handle the features of Nokia 6 easily as demonstrated in phones such as Vodafone Smart V8.
The beauty of Nokia 6 is that it reproduces colours so clearly and crisply, nothing like the poor quality pictures and texts you’d see in the entry phone Nokia 3. For Kshs 25K, the lower black quality that the device has is understable, as even Samsung only uses its high end AMOLED technology on truly premium devices like the Samsung Galaxy S series and the Note series.
A quality phone with superb screen like the Nokia 6 should also be expected to perform remarkably in the battery department. The battery that powers Nokia 6 is a 3000mAh battery but for a 1080p such a battery is expected to last at slightly under 12 hours under ordinary use. According to tests however, the battery promises to provideĀ 768 hours standby time and 18 hours talk time only on 3G and 22 hours music play time. If you are to buy this phone for talk, surfing, and playing a few games and there I would advise that you should expect it to perform at about 18 hours.
Nokia 6 is available in two variants; the low 32GB Internal storage that comes with 3GB RAM version and the 64GB Internal storage that is powered by a 4GB RAM. The low version comes inĀ Matte Black, Tempered Blue, Silver, and Copper colour temperatures whereas the high version comes asĀ Arte Black.
If Nokia 6 is the type of a smartphone that is suitable for your lifestyle, then you can get it from Jumia, Safaricom, and a number of phone outlets across the country.
Other specs of Nokia 6 include Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, Up to LTE connectivity, 16MP rear camera and 8MP front facing camera, fast battery charging technology, fingerprint sensor mounting below the screen, stereo speakers, and Android 7.1.1 out of the box.
