Tech Giant LG Launches e-commerce Portal

Electronic manufacturer LG, is now focusing on Kenyan Online buyers with an independent portals , a move that is targeting tech-savvy shoppers. Customers who make purchases on the LG Brand Shop will enjoy free delivery on their products.

“By opening the online store we are increasing our products’ availability beyond the physical stores,” East and Central Africa managing director of LG, Janghoon Chung, said The customer-friendly move comes shortly after the company set aside Ksh. 100 million to finance its second stage of expansion in its retail-outlet services in the East African Region, which will enhance the opening of 10 new shops. The new stores will total the company’s stores to 122, where Kenya has 10.

According to LG, the e-commerce platform will increase the availability of its products in addition to the physical stores. The company also sought to tap on customers who shop online, with the increase in internet access via mobile-phone technology and the increased growth of the middle-class. The company will stock a vast array of electronics and home appliances such as audio systems, televisions, air conditioners, microwaves, refrigerators, vacuum cleaners, washing machines and dish washers among others. All these products will come with free country-wide delivery as well as two-year warrant and one-year free insurance for products worth Ksh. 60,000 and above.

“Our customers in Kenya will now have 24-hour access to the best of our innovative, genuine and quality products via their computers, smartphones, and tablets from anywhere in the country together with a one-year free insurance for products valued from Sh60,000.” Said Director Chung.

The expansion is aimed at improving the availability of our innovative products to our growing client base,” East and Central Africa marketing director, Mr. Moses Marji said during the opening. The company intends to increase its sales by about 25% over the next two years.

Smartphone buyers, however, will be quite disappointed since the company is not stocking these devices. The platform, LG Brand Shop, running on http://lg.brandshop.co.ke/  Currently, allows cash on delivery.
