Samsung is smiling all the way to the bank as the global combined sales for both the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 plus surplus the 5 million mark in one month. The devices that were launched mid last month have been projected to sell over 60 million units by the end of 2017, which should translate to about 5 million units sales every month.
“Although we cannot provide detailed figures, the sales are going smoothly around the globe. The combined sales already are beyond 5 million units” GSMArena quoted a Samsung official.
The target for 60 million units in sales may be overstretched. This is because higher sales figures are normally registered in the first few months after a device release, with the sales number expected to drop each month – with the lowest figure being recorded towards the launch of a new flagship.
If the momentum of the current sales figures maintains, then the new flagships by Samsung can as well outperform the all time best seller, the Samsung Galaxy s7 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. The two previous flagships have already recorded over 55 million units in sales.
The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 plus sales seem to be defying all the naysayers wishes who cited these flaws of the two devices alongside the horrible show performance of the Galaxy Note 7.
Noteable is the fact that the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 plus have sold over 5 million units yet the devices are yet to be introduced in tens of countries, including China. According the Samsung official quoted by GSMArena, Samsung is targeting to introduce the devices to about 120 countries by the end of this month, and the device will launch in China before the month ends.
Sales in China and a significant drive in other Asian markets should see the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 plus sell over 40 million units by the end of the third month after being in the market.
