Pay Television Company StarTimes Media has announced the roll out of StarTimes digital television sets into the Kenyan market.

The new line of business will complement the pay television offering it has operated for the past five years. This will see the introduction of the StarTimes 24, 32 and 40-inch television sets that will be retailing at between Ksh 18,999 and 38,999.

Speaking during the launch ceremony, StarTimes Vice President Mr. Mark Lisboa noted that the company has progressively invested in research and development key in introducing competitive products developed from the latest technology for the company’s subscribers and customers in Kenya.

“At StarTimes, our commitment to research and development is unwavering, we continue to explore ways and means to not only introduce the latest technology in the market but also provide affordable solutions key in ensuring majority of households have access, can afford and enjoy StarTimes digital television,” noted Mr. Lisboa.

The StarTimes Digital TV is the ability to receive both satellite and terrestrial television signals without connecting an external set top box. The new television which comes in three sizes and already available in the market is designed to decode digital signals by itself thereby saving customers valuable resources which would have otherwise been utilized to acquire a separate set-top box.

StarTimes Digital TV is also designed to save up to 50% power, allowing subscribers to enjoy a viewing experience with less living costs and comes with a HD LED screen, Dolby audio system, HDMI and USB ports that extend an array of options to the user.

The company also announced a subscription offer during the Easter period. Between now and the end of April, for every complete month of Basic bouquet subscription paid for, subscribers will automatically be upgraded to enjoy an extra week on the Classic bouquet.

The same offer will be extended to the satellite television customers where for every complete month subscribed on Smart bouquet, subscribers will enjoy an extra week for free on Super Bouquet.
