Tweet Live Video

Live Video is the most exciting way to consume media. This is probably the most immersive way of experiencing what is taking place in different parts of the globe. It literally turns the world into a global village. After waiting for what feels like an eternity, you can now Go Live straight from your Twitter app.

“Live video is the most immersive way to experience what’s happening around the world. From protests and monumental moments to celebrations and things that make us LOL, we’re making it easier for you to broadcast live video – straight from Twitter.”

Twitter Blog

This is something that should have happened a long time ago. One cannot bring themselves to comprehend why Twitter insisted on running its live streaming platform, Periscope, independent of Twitter. But as they say, “Better late than Never.” You can now create and Tweet live video straight from the Twitter app, powered by Periscope.

How to Start a Live Video Broadcast

  1. Launch the Twitter app
  2. Compose a Tweet as usual
  3. Then tap LIVE
  4. This will bring you to pre-broadcast screen where you can frame your shot
  5. Then simply press Go Live to start the live broadcast

Your Live Video will be made public. As such, anyone on Twitter and Periscope can join your live video and participate in your experience. Some of the interactive features you can perform while watching the live video is by leaving a comment and sending hearts, a sign of support for the broadcaster.

According to Twitter, this update is rolling out to everyone on Twitter for iOS and Android over the coming days.

Other platforms that offer live video broadcasting include Facebook, YouTube and just recently Instagram. Instagram’s live video is unique since the video seizes to exist once the broadcast ends. With both YouTube and Facebook you can stream 360-degree videos. With YouTube it is even better as you can broadcast 4K content.
