Jumia has split this year’s Black Friday to give consumers a wider range of commodity from personal care to home care as well as office appliances.
The 11 day sale will carry different categories of products each day unlike the previous year where the sale took place in a single night. With Friday 25th November being the grand sale, Jumia hopes to achieve major sales before then.
Customers shopping for the consumer goods during this year’s Black Friday will enjoy discounts of up to 50% on selected products (such as Pampers & Dettol) and can choose to have their orders delivered to their home, office or any Aramex, Posta and G4S pick-up stations. Some sales will also have discounts upto 65% throughout each day.
Jumia Managing Director, Sam Chappatte, said, “Our customers have repeatedly told us that they would like Jumia to be a one-stop-shop for all their needs. We have been working hard to satisfy their demands, and think this launch on Black Friday is a great start (it starts Monday!). For the first time ever, these products will be delivered for free over this period! In the coming months we aim to broaden our offer in this category.”
“We recently invested significant capital to more than double the size of our main warehouse in Nairobi. This reflects our confidence in the Kenyan market and desire to improve the experience we deliver to our customers. With more space, we can store more products and deliver faster!” added Chappatte.
As the tussle between the physical stores and the online players continue to feature prominently, the latest move by Jumia reflects its concentration on winning a wider share of Kenya’s retail market. Kenyan shoppers are increasingly moving to shop online as the demand for convenience continues to grow.
