Who does not like free Wi-Fi? Would you believe me if I told you that there are around a thousand Wi-Fi hotspots right here in Kenya that you could access? Not just any Wi-Fi hotspots but Free Wi-Fi hotspots. Wi-Fi hotspots that are available in major towns such as Nakuru, Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Kajiado and Nyeri. Mapping out the exact locations where the Wi-Fi hotspots are present is not an easy task. That is why Liquid Telecom took the initiative to map these Wi-Fi hotspots for you.
Wi-Fi Finder is the name of the app by Liquid Telecom that helps one to find the Free Wi-Fi zones. The sites in the Wi-Fi Finder app all have some form of free, public access. The hotspot access runs from a minimum of 15 minutes use to unlimited free use. The app will provide you with the location of the free Wi-Fi together with the address and contact details of the respective Wi-Fi hotspot.
Most of these Wi-Fi hotspots are a partnership between Liquid Telecom and leading retailers, cafes, restaurants, bars, banks and shopping malls. This is one way these venues try to enhance their customer experience. The Wi-Fi Finder app is available on the Google Play store. You can head there and grab it for your Android phone.
If you are lucky to reside in Nakuru you can access free Wi-Fi with a capacity of 1 Gigabyte per second within a radius of 10km from the central business district. This project is popularly referred to as Nakuru BilaWaya, a partnership between the State House Digital Team, Nakuru County Government and Liquid Telecom.
Internet access is paramount at this time and age. The Wazi Wi-Fi initiative was awesome while it lasted. Back then it was open to the general public. Anyone could subscribe to the Wazi Wi-Fi service. Unfortunately that is not the case anymore. The service has been rebranded to Zuku Wi-Fi and is solely open to Zuku subscribers only.
