Huawei finally launched its Huawei P9 smartphone with two Leica cameras in Kenya

Huawei finally landed its super P9 Smartphone with two Leica cameras on the Kenyan boundaries roughly a week ago. With its 8 megapixel front-facing camera with smart selfie and hybrid focusing system that allows you to capture precious fleeting moments, the Huawei P9 comes with dual-camera technology, which means users can effectively refocus the picture after it is taken. The lenses work in harmony to create a composite 12MP image either in full colour or black and white with sharper contrast and better depth of field than more traditional lenses.

“The Huawei P9 is the first Smartphone with an intelligent camera and promises users a unique experience with features such as a hybrid focusing system that allows you to capture those precious fleeting moments in your life,” said Freddie Zhangxiaolong, Vice Country Director, Huawei Kenya

Zhangxiaolong said the smartphone is already retailing in Safaricom shops and other retail outlets in Nairobi at KShs 54,999 and will soon be all Safaricom Shops countrywide.

According to Huawei, smartphone photography is becoming more popular with over 90 percent of smartphone users using their phones to take pictures. “When you look at the recent studies done globally, the quality of a smartphone’s camera is the third most important consideration for phone buyers, trailing only 4G/LTE capability and reliability/durability. Smartphone photography is even more popular than Internet browsing, emailing, app downloading, and gaming,” he said.

Zhangxiaolong noted that consumers continue to use their smartphones as an everyday pocket camera thereby increasing the demand for smart camera phones such as the Huawei P9.

Recently, the company also launched Mate 8 in Kenya which boasts of its power and battery life among other unique features and also entry level smartphones targeting the mass market with a view to increasing its local market share to over 25 percent by the end of this year.

The Huawei P9 sports a 5.2-inch 1080p display and will come in six shades; dark grey, silver, gold and haze gold and white. It also boasts of a 64-bit processor, feature a biometric fingerprint scanner on the back and is manufactured from aluminum, Blending superior hardware and software with Leica dual lenses and other very interesting features.
