Beverage Company Pepsi Set To Release A Smartphone – Pepsi P1

Technology and smart devices are taking over the world. Technically, if you walk around without a smartphone, is like living without a brain. Everything is is being managed by phones including names and calendar. Distinguished companies are currently investing on tech devices. Recently, Safaricom released their Smat Tab. I don’t how the tab is performing in the market given that other tech companies have better gadgets.

This week the internet was a buzz with rumors of yet another smartphone entering the market. Well, the surprise built up when Pepsi confirmed that they are set to release their own mid range decent smartphone on October 20th. The company is probably tired of producing soda and other food related products. The company offered a number of soft drinks like Pepsi Crystal which performed poorly in the market. Hopefully, Pepsi P1 will make the company proud.

The phone is dubbed Pepsi P1 comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 1.7GHZ MT6592 SoC. 2GB of RAM paired with 16GB internal storage is somewhat average, but the camera is slightly better, being a 13-megapixel rear and a 5-megapixel front unit. The phone will be backed by a 3000 mAh battery. In addition, it runs Android 5.1 Lollipop.

The price will be $209. If Pepsi P1 hit the Kenyan market, it will probably perform better than Samsung Galaxy J5 and other mid range smartphones.

Let’s do a quick comparison. Samsung Galaxy J5 runs on android 5.1, has an internal  storage of 8GB and a processor of 1.2GHz. On the other hand, the P1 runs on the latest Android 5.1, 16GB internal storage and a 1.7GHz quad-core processor. Clearly there is a major difference between the phones. At least with 16GB internal storage I can store movies and photos.

The camera is also important. Samsung Galaxy J5 has a front camera of 5MP that comes with a flash to cater for lighting in case the user is in low light, and a rear camera of 13MP. Pepsi P1 has 13MP/5MP cameras. The two phones have slightly better cameras.

The battery should also be considered before buying a phone. The Samsung Galaxy j5 has a battery capacity of 2600mAh which is good. Well, Pepsi P1 houses 3,000mAh battery.

Pepsi P1 is a good phone because it has incredible features and the price is fair. Perhaps their biggest competitor Coca-Cola should come up with a laptop or a device to show off.
