Microsoft’s Lumia 950 And Lumia 950 XL Specs

Microsoft unveiled their high end smartphones Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. The phones will be competing with the leading phones from Samsung, Apple and others. Besides the high end phones, Microsoft unveiled the super-affordable Microsoft Lumia 550. Let’s take a quick look at Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL specs.

Display

The Lumia 950 features a 5.2-inch AMOLED display with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. The phone will sport a pixel density of 565 ppi that means one can view crisp and clear images. On the other side, 950 XL comes with a 5.7-inches IPS display with 2,560 x 1,440  and whopping pixel density of 518 ppi. The two phones have displays that can be compared with the other high end smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.

Processor

Microsoft Lumia 950 is powered by a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 (RAM uncear) while the larger 950 XL packs in a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 with 3GB RAM. Competition from other devices is fierce but the two phones have an advantage over the others. The phones come equipped with the latest Microsoft Windows 10.

Operating System

The Lumia 950 and 950 XL are the first devices to run Microsoft’s Windows 10. The two devices feature almost the same hardware so one can also expect similar experience. One of the biggest USP of the new Windows 10 is said to be the Continumm feature that allows turning the mobile device into a full-fledged Windows 10 PC.

Storage

The phones come with 32GB internal memory which can be expanded via a MicroSD card slot.

Camera

The phones come with 20MP rear camera along with triple LED flash and a fifth generation OIS. In addition, they have a 5MP front camera.

Connectivity

The phones have almost all connectivity options. They support Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v4.1, NFC, USB Type-C, GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS.

Sensors

The phones have an Accelerometer, Ambient light, Barometer, Gyroscope, Magnetometer and Proximity.

Battery

Most high end smartphones have incredible battery capacity. Lumia 950 and 950 XL come fitted with 3000mAh and 3,340mAh batteries respectively.

Price

The phones will hit the stores in November. The Lumia 950 is priced at $549 and 950 XL at $649.

Ideally, the two phones are meant to out compete the other high profiled smartphones in the market. Microsoft made a good brand in making mid range devices like the Lumia 640 and Lumia 540. People love cheap phones that’s why the Microsoft Lumia 430 sold out in March. However, Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL have amazing features and people would like to place the phones on a petri-dish and experiment on their functionality.
