How Much Are You Worth To Facebook And Twitter?
I think these social media sites should start paying some loyal users. My Facebook timeline has many ads that are not helpful. Social media sites are not highways or roads where you just walk and weird adverts pop on your way. Well, Facebook is a free social networking website that allows registered users to create profiles, upload photos and video, send messages and network with different people. But as a user, how Much Are You Worth To Facebook And Twitter?
Facebook is currently the largest social network with around 1.5 billion users. The network hopes to make $12.76 in ad revenue off each user worldwide this year and about $48.76 off each user in the United States, according to data from research firm eMarketer.

eMarketer reported that Facebook will attract nearly 65 percent of total social ad spending worldwide in 2015. The media expects to raise about $16.3 billion in ad revenues globally this year which is an increase from the $11.5 billion in ad revenue it earned in 2014.
Facebook is growing at a very high speed and it’s not taking any chances from its competitors. Two years ago Facebook closed an ownership deal with messaging app WhatsApp co- founders Jan Koum and Brian Acton at $19bn in cash and shares. In addition to that, Facebook owns the photo-sharing App, Instagram. Instagram has around 400 million users. eMarketer provides that Instagram will take in about $600 million in ad revenue this year accounting for about 5 percent of Facebook’s overall ad revenue.
Twitter on the other side, is expected to make nearly $7.75 in ad revenue per user worldwide this year and $24.48 per user in the US. Apparently, Twitter is not as popular as Facebook’s owned networks, it has about 316 million users. Twitter is now expected to grow ad revenues 61.8% this year, taking in $2.03 billion, or 8.1% of total social network ad spending worldwide. In April, eMarketer predicted Twitter’s growth would reach 66.9% this year.
“Twitter’s slowing user growth is impacting its ad business,” said eMarketer principal analyst Debra Aho Williamson. “Twitter has improved its ad targeting capabilities, and it still has a lock on real-time conversation. However, advertisers want to reach a mass audience and that’s harder to do on Twitter than on Facebook.”
Global social network ad spending will reach $25.14 billion this year. However, the major players have monopolized the market. Social network ad spending is attributed by the increase in Facebook’s ad revenue. So how Much Are You Worth To Facebook And Twitter? About Sh1,000.
