Two days ago, Infinix Mobility announced yet another of her affordable but high quality smartphones, the Infinix Hot 2, a phone that is part of the Google’s affordable smartphones programme for developing nations, the Android One Programme. If you haven’t heard of the Android One Programme, it is basically a decision by Google to design and set standards for low and mid entry low cost Android devices. Google itself doesn’t manufacture these gadgets and that’s why players such as Infinix take up the duty to manufacture the smartphones – an example being the Infinix Hot 2.

Infinix Hot 2 is in fact the first Android One smartphone in Africa, and a Google first hand centric and supported device, Infinix Hot 2 will enable users to enjoy the latest version of Android with guaranteed software upgrades after release, premium hardware specs and a wide range of customized apps.

Not only does Infinix Hot 2 boasts of direct support from Google, it also has a lot to say about the Infinix’s continuous release of mid range smartphone specs but at low end price point – a philosophy that was affirmed by Mr. Benjamin Jiang, The Managing director Infinix Mobility, during the launch “At Infinix we believe that the end-users deserve to experience the latest in trendy smartphones at competitive price. We are pleased to collaborate with Google to deliver this unique smartphone; the Infinix Hot 2. We are confident that the phone will push the frontiers of smartphone technology to the next level.”

When other mid range devices from mainstream device manufacturers that cost more than Kshs 20,000 feature only 8 GB of storage to only let you access 3 GB of the storage space, Infinix Hot 2 features 16 GB ROM and runs on a 1 GB of RAM. The phone is powered by a Quad-Core Processor that clocks at 1.3 GHz and also boasts of 2200 mAh of battery. Since other Infinix phones like the Infinix Hot Note have featured a battery almost as twice as big, we will have to put the battery to test and see how it compares to competition.

Other features of the Infinix Hot 2 include a 5.0 inch display and high-definition (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution, flashlight, Bluetooth, WI-Fi, and runs on Android Lollipop (Android 5.1.1). For photo lovers, Infinix Hot 2 comes with an 8.0 MP rear camera that has a 5P lens and for your selfies you will be able to take clear photos using the 2MP front-facing camera. The phone is protected by a glass Infinix calls the Dragon Glass which is a scratch resistant protection. The same glass also protects the back cover and this duo protection gives the phone a really premium look.

For the premium look of Infinix Hot 2, twice the storage space, and beautiful glass protection, Infinix would want you to part with, get this, only Kshs 9,000 and if you get a kind reseller, you’ll be refunded that not so easy to understand one bob.
