MultiChoice Africa has announced the launch of BBC Worldwide’s new global genre brand, BBC Brit available 1st September 2015 on the DStv platform.
The new channel is a rebrand of BBC Entertainment which will be renamed to BBC Brit on DStv channel 120 with an increased investment into new content. BBC Brit will sit alongside BBC World News and the new additions to the DStv Compact bouquet, BBC Lifestyle and CBeebies.
BBC Brit will offer premium, factual entertainment that is intelligent but irreverent and male-skewed but with broader appeal and blends expertise with entertainment and fact with fun. The channel will become the exclusive home of Top Gear, Undercover Boss and Dragons Den and cover a rich variety of subjects: cars, science, adventure, business, food, life-changing moments, extreme characters, quirky eccentrics and comedy.
BBC Brit is intended to bring together some of the worldâs biggest names and best programme-makers in a brilliantly curated, high quality channel brand. The channel captures whatâs special about British TV and the African launch marks an important step in the companyâs global strategy.
Also, the content hosted on the channel is designed to reach a diverse pan-African audience, reflecting a wide range of voices, ages and cultures.
Commenting on the new channel additions to the DStv Compact bouquet, Tim Jacobs, the CEO of MultiChoice Africa, said: âAvailing all these BBC Worldwide channels to our Compact subscribers will open up a universe of world-class entertainment to a larger and varied audience across the African continent.
