Facebook’s Second Quarter Revenue Increases By 51% To1.8 Billion Dollars.

Facebook recently posted some rather impressive statistics, as they seek to show the tremendous results that the company is enjoying. I shall break them down for you the best way a newbie can, by interpreting the figures as objectively as possible.

Daily active users for June 2013 alone were 699 million, a 27% percent increase from the same period last year. Monthly users stand at 1.15 billion as of June 2013. That’s a 21% increase from the same period last year. Mobile monthly average users were 819 million, a 51% increase. Desktop users currently stand at 469 million monthly. Mobile users have grown by 51%, which is reflective of global social media trends.

Facebook currently has about one million active Advertisers in the US alone. The advertising revenue is 1.61 billion dollars! That is 88% of total revenue, and a 61% increase. Mobile advertising revenue is 41% of the total revenue collected. Of note, is that Facebook’s revenue for the second quarter stands at 1.81 billion dollars, an increase of 51%. 214 million dollars comes from other forms of payment and fees.

When Instagram video was launched, 5 million videos were uploaded in the first 24 hours! As I had notified you earlier via a separate article, Facebook for every phone is now used by about 100 million people globally, mostly in the 3rd world. New features that you might have noticed, include verified pages, hashtags which we talked about earlier, and embedded posts. Something else includes replies to comments, as well as replies via pictures although that applies to personal profiles for now.

There are currently over 10,000 apps built on Parse, a cloud-based platform that provides cross-platform tools for developers.
