You are what you tweet, or post on your facebook profiles, people are reminded every day. That piece of advice however seems to go in one ear, and hurriedly out the other.
Yahoo news reported that an Australian teenager was arrested, for tweeting about being ‘armed with a bomb’. This was during a concert by world renowned vocalist P!nk. More than 10,000 people, had gathered with bated breath at Rod Laver Arena on Sunday night for the first of Pink’s 18 Melbourne concerts on her current tour. This is according to Yahoo news.
The teenager who was identified using his profile picture, pleased innocence. The tweet which was later deleted read, “Pink I’m ready with my Bomb. Time to blowup #RodLaverArena B**ch”. Officers were notified of the tweet, and swiftly dashed to the grounds. In a few minutes, he was surrounded, asked if the picture was his, and then bundled out of the venue The boy however claims that he was simply referring to P!nk’s song Timebomb. His defence, “It was meant to be about drop the effects, the music, everything – just drop it all,” he told the Seven Network.
Now you know that your actions are being monitored closely. You better err on the side of caution, the next time you feel the need to post something that could be greatly misunderstood. Yahoo reports that although he was arrested and released, he is expected to be charged with uttering threats and causing a public nuisance.
