Yahoo Mail redesigned with Faster and simpler navigation across all platforms

Written by

I still check my yahoo mail once in a while. Actually I use it as a backup for the other email accounts. But I have been watching the new tenure of  Marissa Mayer at Yahoo closely. There goes her first major foot print with the redesign of yahoo mail. She took to blog to discuss it:

You’ve told us loud and clear that you want fewer distractions when it comes to email. You want to quickly login, communicate, and get on with your day. And we’ve listened. Starting today, the new Yahoo! Mail is fast, easy and available anywhere you go. These improvements will be available on all major platforms: Web, Windows 8, iPhone/iPod touch and Android.

According to Mayer whether you’re accessing Yahoo Mail from your desktop or mobile device, the service will now have a consistent look and feel across platforms.

Many would say that the move is like ten years late but I think there is still more which can be done to make email communication as we know it now more attractive. Yes, there are those who think that Social Media is already replacing email communication but I think it is too early. I think Email and Social Media would gradually merge and it is not about one replacing the other. What Google has been trying with Gplus, point to that direction. Facebook brought in Facebook emails and although people seem not to be excited about them, I think it is the future.

The many comments I have seen online suggest that the new yahoo mail , look more like the Outlook . Outlook which used to be called Hotmail
