Barclays Set to Launch Mobile Payment and Transfer platform “Pingit” in Kenya

Barclays Bank is set to launch its mobile money transfer platform in Kenya tomorrow. Here is part of what they are saying on the invite to the event:

“Barclays Bank of Kenya will tomorrow morning officially unveil a new mobile commerce solution that is a first of its kind in the market. This is part of the Bank’s commitment of providing value added prepositions to consumers as well as its strategic move to make banking a real time, more secure, and a convenient experience”

I suspect they going to launch their mobile payment and money transfer platform “Barclays Pingit” . Pangit is a Barclay mobile  app for people aged 16 and above in UK. I am not sure what would be the age restriction in Kenya. Basically it works like Mpesa. It will be interesting to see whether they will work independence of  the Mpesa…And the mobile money and transfer in Kenya is just about to get more interesting…
