Global Voice Summit Kicks Off in Nairobi Kenya

Written by

Global Voice Summit kicks off today at Pride Inn Hotel in Nairobi Kenya. The two-day event  convenes bloggers, activists and technologists for public discussions and workshops about the rise of online citizen media movements worldwide. I am really excited about the event and here is what Collins Mbalo, one of the Kenyan authors of Global Voices and BAKE member wrote about it

Since the authors will be coming from different continents, cultures and backgrounds I am certain the learning curve for the participants will be nothing short of exponential. I am also certain that the discussions we will have, the moments that we will share, will be highlights, precious mementos to be cherished over and beyond a lifetime. To be among a pool of talent, intelligence, artistry that the Global Voices community encompasses is indeed a peak of privilege!

Many Kenyan bloggers will be participating on the summit. To start with the 14 winners of the BAKE Blog Award 2012  got a special invite to the event. On top of that Global Voices offered six bloggers based in Kenya the opportunity to attend the Global Voices Citizen Media Summit 2012 for free. To compete for one of the six spots, Kenyan bloggers had to write a blog post of 500 words or less on the topic “How citizen media can help ensure peaceful elections in Kenya in 2012-13″  See those who got the chance here
