Mobile Web East Africa 2012 -Building the mobile-ecosystem in the region.

Written by

I am excited, yes, Mobile Web East Africa 2012 will take place in Kenya next week   on 22nd & 23rd . I think  Mobile Web East Africa 2012 is going to be a fantastic conference . Kenya has made a lot of progress in the mobile world and this will be  a chance for the stakeholders to facilitate further growth of the mobile-ecosystem in the region.

The following are some of the heavy weight speakers at the event

  • Emma Kaye, CEO, Bozza
  • Paul Kukubo, CEO, Kenya ICT Board
  • John Waibochi, CEO, Virtual City
  • Mark Kaigwa, Partner, Afrinnovator
  • Joseph Sevilla, Director, @iLabAfrica
  • Judith Owigar, President, Akirachix
  • Paul Stemmet, COO, World of Avatar
  • Neil Ahlsten, New Business Development – Africa, Google

The best part will be the round table sessions.  Instead of having  a room full of people being lectured, the round table  format will allow people to interact and discuss the presented topics. This is important since the event’s key focus is on facilitating the growth of the mobile ecosystem in the region through interaction and relationship building.  A great chance to network….I like the networking part. The Round Table format will include:

  • Panel discussions featuring senior strategists from industry leading companies
  • Networking sessions designed to encourage maximum interaction between attendees

Finally it is worth noting that Nairobi’s Innovation Hub (*iHub_) and m:lab East Africa  both agreed to formally support the conference.

John Kieti, Manager of m:lab East Africa, commented: “Mobile Web East Africa is bound to bring together key stakeholders contributing to the growth of the mobile web and related economic platforms in the region.  It is complementary to the work we are doing at m:lab East Africa to help nurture mobile entrepreneurship so it was an easy decision to formally support the conference.”

Hamilton Juma, Manager of Nairobi’s *iHub_ also pledged support for the conference: “As a part of our remit to foster the growth of the ecosystem, the *iHub_ is really pleased to be linking up with All Amber on Mobile Web East Africa 2012.  It’s a fantastic event, so we’re glad to be such a part of it and to have some of our members demonstrating their work.”

Mobile Web East Africa will be held at the 5* Southern Sun Mayfair hotel in Nairobi, Kenya on 22nd & 23rd February 2012.
