Wikipedia to Launch Schools Project in Kenya and iHub Meetup

You are welcome to attend a talk by Dr.Ting Chen, the chairman of Wikimedia Foundation’s Board of Trustees who is in the country to attend the official launch of the Wikipedia for schools project as well as a celebration of Wikipedia’s 10th Anniversary.
The agenda will be:
1. Local Content
2. Wikipedia as a tool of life, education
3. Offline & Limited versions of Wikipedia
4. Developing Applications for Wikipedia, MediaWiki and other Wikimedia Projects.
5. Wikimedia as a foundation – non-profit ICT.

Official launch of the Wikipedia Schools Project in Kenya

Keynote guest will be Ting Chen, Chairman of Wikimedia Foundation’s Board of Trustees. Other invited delegates include the Ministry of Education officials; officials from the Kenya ICT Board; NGO’s; as well as students, teachers and lecturers.

The event will start at around 2.30pm with an opening plenary as well as various talks and presentations. Participants will take a 4 oçlock tea-break and resume with a keynote speech from Ting Chen. Thereafter, a presentation will be made on the Wikipedia for Schools Project followed by a Q&A. A local media personality may give out the closing speech followed by a buffet dinner.
