  • After trying Yu for one month this is my experience.

    Am based in Embu and the thing seems to work very well this sides of Kenya. I travelled to Nai for business for one week the Yu connection was a problem. Even when it indicated five bars the connection was poor, when it connected the maximum download speed was 10kps. I visited town centre, Donholm and Nairobi west and in all this places the connection was sluggish.

    An explanation as to why i was seeing this difference could be, may be Yu have optimised their upcountry network and left out Nairobi. Another explanation is my proximity to YU base stations. My office is 10 metres from a YU mast and my home is 30 metres from another YU mast. Is it a case of being lucky?

    I would love to read experiences of other users.

  • I have an idea which can be a competitive advantage over YU competitor; just derived from emerging issues in Kenya.
    I request the management team to invite me for a talk. YU has the cheapest call rate with efficient service. Keep up.

  • Hi Wainainah, I think you can save cost of buying another yu moden if you already have either Safaricom modem or Zain. what you do you just unlock it.

  • I can help you unlock one of course at a cost

  • I like your arguments and can argue in the same line of thought coz at night from 10 pm it is very efficient but during the day it is just frustrating….My modem has been showing a consistent signal strenth of 19/99 all the time i have used it even at night when the speeds are ok

  • I am pretty pissed off by the KENYAN BREED of MANAGERS across the kenyan private & public organizations..or is it a Fcikug kenyan thing of pple being stupid and to always act b4 thinking! see the question here,,’how to access this unlimited Yu internet for 49/=’ and all loud mouths contribute Crap that’s not Relevant to the qstn.! I also came to this blog for the same answer..What are the Yu guys doing about sensitizing pple about this damn shit internet service! am fed up with all major internet providers,kdn,orange,safcom,zain.all! I have more modems in the house than Shirts!..none works and if it works, it robs ! I bought a Yu line yesterday just to try their internet, but 24hrs later I don’t know how to activate it..so frustrating and their website is another jigger in my ass..it is inaccessible..what a shame ! everyone is either busy stealing or taking beer in kenya and all have lost touch with their core duties and responsibilities..we can’t get answers to simple problems across the nation..kajora material everywhere..bure kabisa!

  • FYI YU internet is unlimited but dang. you will wait for ages waiting for a webpage to open not to mention hundreds of disconnects. They specialize in "Slow Internet"

    @Sageauk February 14, 2011 14:34
  • I'm impressed :-)!
    I use the network but mostly for voice & texts – in Nairobi. Are you a telkom engineer? I like the way you know all this. Thanks!

  • The game just got more fussy..YU has introduced new Huawei modems which I hear are 3G enabled (whatever that means to the customers as YU is not yet to be 3G compliant)… this is the modem which now is using the *154 # command. The *156# command is for mobile internet and now the old modem has *157# command …..They are about to tell us to THROW AWAY the old modems and go buy the new ones..THE CORPORATE CONMEN JUST GOT MORE DARING

  • Dial *122# it’s what I am using now. There was even an offer for 600MB for Kshs 100.
    Its speed is average hence cannot be used for heavy and useful downloads. It would best suite browsing for light websites;youtube is a NO NO!
