Here to women – the glue that holds together the human race

Written by

So i woke up early today trying to come up with something sensible to say a bout extent of? greatness of women. Then after sometime i realized there is no amount words which can be used to appreciate the the work , the dedication, the love, the faith, the beauty and the inner strength of women.? My mind wondered long time ago when i used to live in the countryside and i used to see my mum and other women wake up everyday at 5am. By 6.30am they have already filled their water containers, prepared the breakfast for the kids going to school and everyone else and off to the shamba. They would toil until 12 noon, rush back home to prepare lunch for everyone. After lunch they would? take off to the to the bush to collect firewood , then off to market to look for food for the family. That was and still the daily routine of a woman living in the rural parts of Kenya. Compare that to men who their job only come when? ploughing and harrowing of the shambas. After that they wake up early in the morning to start politicking, or drinking…….

Women practically run the families, ensure that everything is up to the standards while the men take all the credit. They are real bread winners, and they deserve our respect. To all the wonderful women out there, i am lost for words and i am not a poet but i got this poem to share with you on this very great day

Here’s to the Woman

…who knows where she’s going
and will keep on until she gets there;

who knows not only what she wants from life
but what she has to offer in return…

HERE’S TO THE WOMAN

who is loyal to family and friends,
who expects no more from others
than she is willing to give;

HERE’S TO THE WOMAN

who guides and inspires
not by quoting others’ philosophies
but by living her own good
example;

who accepts both victories and disappointments
with the same grace,
and who can rise above life’s challenges
and move on…

HERE’S TO THE WOMAN
who gives the gifts of her thoughtfulness,
who shows her caring with a word of support,
her understanding with a smile;

a woman who brings joy to others
just by being herself…

To my mum and all the great mums across the world

How deep is a mother’s love?
How far does a mother’s love go?
Is there a limit to her love?
Is there always enough of her love?

A mother will for the love of her children,
Do the things ordinary beings will not do,
Things that are seen as a bother,
She has them done without much fuss.

Always making sure there is ample food for all,
Hiding her countless worries for her children,
Swallowing anger when her pride is bruised,
Forgiving the very child who hurt her feelings.

Taking under her loving and gentle wings,
The little children of her own children,
Pouring her unmatched devotion and affection,
Spelling out the great depth of her endless love.

Now tell me can you measure a mother’s love?
