“Please check tomorrow we don’t have? Ksh.1000 to renew our domain”. Nobody said that from standard but what do you make of? a whole standard website being down because the domain has expired?
The hosting companies usually alert the domain owners about their domain expiry date almost a month prior to the expiry date. The questions i am asking now are :
Does it mean that nobody alerted the standard group that their site is about to expire?
The whole of Standard group nobody could remember the birthday of their website, huh?
Or is this a sign of bankruptcy?
Or is Standard Group folding up I start looking for my? new favorite news site?
To be fair to them you can reach their site through? http://www.standardmedia.co.ke/ but if they have abandoned the popular Url we are used to, then they should tell people or redirect them to their new home…

If you have been a keen follower of the standard, you will notice that they recently moved to the .ke name abandoning the .net. I think leaving domain to expire was an intentional but stupid move by the standard group. They may still renew it.
They should renew it otherwise somebody else will grab the domain with dire consequences for The Standard. I'm sure there are people out there who have already thought of doing this …
