Now it seems the? early beneficiaries of the fiber of optics in Kenya are the scammers and the internet fraudsters. It has taken many by surprise and the truth is from the? government sites to big corporations to individual sites none of them was ready for this.? Equity bank is the latest victim of the phishing scam. There is a fake site which purports to be Equity bank website http://equitybanknig-plc.com/ . The website falsely and fraudulently use the Equity bank name and logo and by imitating other distinctive elements of Equity bank genuine site.

The site requests visitors to supply sensitive personal or financial information.? It is possible that the webpage and the use of trademark or logo is not authorized by the Equity Bank. The online criminals use such site to deceive unsuspecting members of the public to provide them with their personal details.? Sometime the criminals hack a normal functioning website without the owner?s knowledge; they then insert a number of codes which solicits information from the users. Phishing is typically carried out by e-mail or instant messaging and it often directs users to enter details at a fake website whose look and feel are almost identical to the legitimate one.
