Microsoft Office 365 is now commercially available in Kenya. Businesses can try it for free for 30 days by signing up at www.office365.com. Office 365 brings together Microsoft Office, Microsoft SharePoint Online, Microsoft Exchange Online and Microsoft Lync Online fixed price monthly cost.

Microsoft promise the users that with Office 365,  the cloud remains familiar . It does not require people to change the way they work because it’s based on the familiar Microsoft known tools. People get new ways to work together, on virtually any device, using the familiar Office applications they already know. In addition, business owners get the reliability, security features and IT controls they need in the cloud.

Well, on the above, I have come to realize that all the cloud service providers usually promise the security although none of them can actually demonstrate the level of security or how secure the cloud is.I have asked the question  of security to many of these firms and the answer remains the same, the users have to trust that the cloud is secure. Microsoft on their part pointed to their experience in the field

Here some details about Offic365 cloud:

1. Office + Office 365

Within the cloud you get the usual Microsoft Office familiar tools including Word, Excel , PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote . Then add the  Office 365 plan

Office 365 charges for small businesses is US$6 per month. The package includes Office Web Apps, Microsoft Exchange Online, Microsoft SharePoint Online, Microsoft Lync Online and an external website.

Office 365 for enterprises has an array of choices for midsize and large businesses, as well as government organizations, starting for as little as $4 (U.S.) per user, per month for basic email. Office 365 for enterprises also includes the option to purchase Microsoft Office Professional Plus desktop software on a pay-as-you-go basis, for the first time. For $20 (U.S.) per user, per month, organizations can get Office Professional Plus, along with email, voicemail, enterprise social networking, instant messaging, Web portals, extranets, videoconferencing, web conferencing, on-premises licenses and 24/7 phone support.
