Muva technologies Limited has launched a platform aimed at changing the way adverts are delivered. The Platform dubbed HitPesa enables advertisers to structure and target adverts by using a customer’s geolocation to send and place adverts directly to your phone. The platform was launched at the just concluded Nairobi Innovation week held at the University of Nairobi.
The platform comes in form of an android application and a web interface. It provides the advertiser with the metrics and analytics of who and where an advert was viewed from allowing you to see the exact cost of acquiring and converting a customer. The target audience is selected based on age, gender, and location.
Signing up can be done on the official HitPesa website or through the android application available on Google play. Members who sign up for the service are given a free website and a poster for their website after completing their company’s portfolio on the site.
“The market lacks a clear leader in mobile and internet based targeted advertising. It is this need that has motivated us to develop the product with the aim of delivering specific messages to specific audiences based on their location, age, and gender. Advertisers on our platform get to pay only after an advert has been viewed. This is the most affordable and convenient way to deliver adverts,” said Evans Ndegwa, CEO, Muva technologies Limited during the launch
Users who view adverts on their phones get paid a certain amount per hit depending on the advert. The cash is deposited to your e-wallet on the application and is available for withdrawal as either airtime or via Mpesa as a cash transaction.
The application works by push notifications therefore allowing the user to see all offers. Take an example of walking in a town near a hotel that has an offer on their menu that day. You will get a notification of the offer with an option to view the ad. The app provides a way to get information on products you would be interested in, around you.
According to the developers, today’s development of information technology has brought fundamental changes in the way advertising is done. In this regard, the Internet has changed into an important tool in business as it presents an opportunity not only to do business but also to advertise. This coupled with the increased uptake of mobile phones and mobile content is an opportunity that awaits full-tapping.
