Jumia to offer free shipping of light goods like mobile phones during Black Friday sale

If you are not aware, Jumia started there big Black Friday sale yesterday, 14th November, 2016. That is 11 days earlier with the grand sale happening on the 25th November later on in the month. This move is aimed at allowing customers to take advantage of the thousands of deals up for grabs. Shoppers will be able to enjoy huge discounts on specific categories of products on each of the11 days set.

The awesome bit is that Jumia is offering free shipping on thousands of small and medium items like mobile phones, computing, medium sized television sets and fashion items among others during this year’s Black Friday sale across Nairobi. In essence, anything that is not bulky will be delivered to your preferred pick up point totally free of charge. You can choose to have it delivered to your home, office or any of the pick-up centres across Nairobi.

The following is the statement from Jumia’s Kenya Managing Director:

“We are continually looking for innovative  ways to provide our customers with the convenience they deserve at the best price possible in order to make life that little bit easier for everyone at this expensive time of year, we have prepared the best deals in the country and will deliver them for free.”

-Sam Chappatte, MD, Jumia Kenya

Jumia is also encouraging customers to use EazzyPay, the new payment solution from Equity Bank that we highlighted here as part of Equity’s Eazzy Banking Suite. Apparently Equity Bank had planned to reward a couple of the first users of the payment solution with Ksh.1,000 shopping vouchers to be used during this Black Friday sale period. This time Jumia has invested in a warehouse twice the size of the one they used during last year’s Black Friday sale to ensure things run smoothly.
