Local data and Internet market records growth.

According to statistics released by the Communications Commission Of Kenya (CCK), the internet and data market segment has recovered lost ground during the last quarter of the past year to stand at 13.1 million subscribers from 11.9 million.

Mobile subscribers have remained the greatest contributor of internet/data subscriptions for 99 percent of total subscriptions the advancement also comes with numerous promotions and special offers on internet by mobile operators as a strategy towards growing their market shares.

The number of internet users also increased by 11 percent during the quarter under review to record 21.2 million users from 19.1 million in the previous quarter.

Local content in form of dramas, news, discussions and documentaries is continuously being promoted while on the other hand, internationally produced music and movies remain more popular among the broadcasters.

The postal courier sector registered increased traffic in both local and international incoming mails  the growth signifying that there is still demand for the service.

CCK emphasized on instillation of customer confidence and offering outstanding customer service to make sector more vibrant and competitive.
